MediVision Masab Tank
Masab Tank is where MediVision started and where the most complex cases still come. Every sub-speciality — cataract, refractive, cornea, retina, glaucoma, oculoplasty, paediatric and squint — runs from this one building, so a patient who needs three opinions gets them in a single visit instead of three trips.
It is also the group's referral centre. When our district hospitals in Nalgonda, Warangal or Badvel meet a case that needs vitreoretinal surgery, a corneal transplant or orbital reconstruction, the patient comes here.
What Masab Tank does well
Every MediVision centre follows the same clinical protocols. What differs is what each one is built for.
Every speciality on one floor plan
A retina consult, a glaucoma field test and a cataract biometry can happen the same morning — no second appointment, no second trip across the city.
The group's complex-case centre
Vitreoretinal surgery, corneal transplants, orbital reconstruction and paediatric surgery under general anaesthesia all happen here.
24×7 emergency desk
The only MediVision centre with round-the-clock cover for trauma, chemical injury, sudden vision loss and retinal detachment.
Insurance desk on site
Cashless pre-authorisation for 30+ insurers and TPAs, plus CGHS, ECHS, Aarogyasri and Ayushman Bharat paperwork handled in-house.
Built for outstation patients
Same-day investigations and a coordinator who sequences appointments so families travelling in from other districts finish in one or two days.

About comprehensive ophthalmologySymptoms worth an appointment this week
Most eye problems are easier, cheaper and more completely fixable when caught early. These are the ones we would rather see sooner.
Sudden loss or blurring of vision
In one eye or both — treat this as an emergency, not something to watch for a week.
Flashes, floaters or a curtain in your vision
Classic warning signs of a retinal tear or detachment. Hours matter.
Eye pain with redness, halos or vomiting
Can indicate acute angle-closure glaucoma — pressure needs lowering the same day.
Injury or chemical splash
Rinse with clean water for 15 minutes and come straight in. Do not wait to see if it settles.
Gradual dimming, glare while driving at night
Usually cataract. Not urgent, but it is measurable and fixable.
Distorted or wavy straight lines
Suggests macular involvement — needs an OCT scan, not new spectacles.
Diagnostics available here
A diagnosis is only as good as the measurement behind it. These tests are performed at Masab Tank — you are not sent elsewhere for the basics.
- Optical biometry (IOLMaster 700, ARGOS)
- OCT and OCT angiography
- Fundus fluorescein angiography
- Humphrey visual field perimetry
- Corneal topography and tomography
- Specular microscopy and pachymetry
- Optos ultra-widefield retinal imaging
- B-scan ultrasonography
What actually happens when you come in
Budget about 90 minutes for a first visit — longer if your pupils need dilating, which makes driving yourself home unwise.
-
Registration and vision test
A short registration, then visual acuity and auto-refraction. Bring your current glasses and any previous reports.
-
Diagnostic work-up
Eye pressure, slit-lamp examination and any imaging your symptoms call for — OCT, fields or biometry.
-
Consultation with your specialist
You get the findings explained plainly, with the actual images on screen, and a clear answer on what needs doing and when.
-
Plan, costs and follow-up
A written plan with costs before anything is booked, plus insurance paperwork if you are using it.
Specialists you may see here
Our consultants rotate across centres, so the surgeon you meet at a district hospital is the same one operating at the flagship.

Questions about our Masab Tank centre
Is Masab Tank the main MediVision hospital?
Yes. It is the 50-bed flagship and the group's referral centre — every sub-speciality operates here, and complex cases from our other centres are sent to this location.
What are the timings?
Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Sunday 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The eye emergency desk runs 24×7, including Sundays and public holidays.
Do you handle complex retina and cornea cases here?
Yes. Vitreoretinal surgery, corneal transplants (DALK, DSEK, PKP), cross-linking for keratoconus and orbital surgery are all performed at Masab Tank. This is where those cases are referred from our other branches.
How do I reach you in an emergency?
Call 040-4245 6666 at any hour and come directly to Masab Tank. For chemical injury, rinse the eye with clean running water for 15 minutes on your way — that first rinse matters more than anything we can do later.
Can outstation or international patients be seen quickly?
Yes. Tell us your travel dates when you book and our coordinator will sequence your investigations, consultation and — if needed — surgery so the whole thing fits into one or two days. We also run an international patient desk for visa letters and follow-up teleconsultations.
What premium lens options do you offer for cataract surgery?
The full range: monofocal, aspheric, toric for astigmatism, multifocal and extended-depth-of-focus lenses, toric-multifocal combinations and scleral-fixated IOLs where capsular support is missing. Which one suits you depends on your cornea, your retina and how you actually use your eyes — that conversation happens after the measurements, not before.
Do you accept cashless insurance?
Yes. Our insurance desk handles pre-authorisation for 30+ insurers and TPAs, plus CGHS, ECHS, Aarogyasri and Ayushman Bharat. Bring your policy details and a photo ID and we will do the paperwork.
Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?
Walk-ins are seen, but an appointment cuts your waiting time considerably — especially if you need dilated testing, which adds around 40 minutes to the visit.
