Thirty-four years of one job, done properly
MediVision Eye Care Centre opened in Hyderabad in 1993 with a single consulting room. It is now a five-centre group with a 50-bed NABH-accredited flagship at Masab Tank — and it still does only one thing: eyes.

One consulting room in 1993
Dr. K. Ravi Kumar Reddy founded MediVision in 1993 with a straightforward idea: an eye hospital should measure carefully, explain honestly and operate only when operating is genuinely the right answer. Everything the group does now still rests on those three habits.
Thirty-four years later that first clinic has become a 50-bed super-speciality hospital at Masab Tank, four more centres across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and a team of 30+ specialists supported by around 200 nursing, optometry, counselling and administrative staff.
More than 1,35,000 surgeries have been performed in that time, and over 6,25,000 people have walked in for an examination. A good number of them were told they did not need surgery at all — which is the part of the record we are most attached to.
Five centres, one clinical standard
The flagship at Masab Tank runs every sub-speciality under one roof and holds the group's 24×7 eye emergency desk. KPHB serves west Hyderabad with the longest weekday hours in the group. Warangal and Nalgonda bring cataract, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma care to their districts. Badvel, run with SBVR Charitable Eye Hospital, exists to make surgery affordable in Kadapa district.
The protocols, the lens brands, the consent process and the surgeons are the same at all five. What changes is what each building is equipped for — and we say so plainly on every centre page, including the procedures a centre does not perform.

Vision, mission and the rules we hold ourselves to
Written for our own staff first. If you ever find us falling short of any of this, tell us.
Our vision
That no one in Telangana or Andhra Pradesh loses sight to a condition that could have been caught, treated or simply explained in time. "Making the World See" is not a slogan for us — it is the specific job.
Our mission
To provide accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment at a cost families can plan for, in the language they think in, with the same clinical standard in a district town as in the city.
Only what is needed
We do not sell procedures. If your cataract does not yet warrant surgery, or your symptom needs glasses rather than a laser, that is what you will be told — and when to come back.
Costs before commitment
A written estimate covering tests, the procedure, lenses and follow-up, given before anything is scheduled. No item appears on a bill that was not on the estimate.
Time to understand
Findings are shown on screen, in Telugu or English, with the actual images from your eye. Nobody is rushed into a decision they cannot explain to their family afterwards.
Honest referral
When a case needs a centre we do not have here — or a specialist we are not — we arrange it, send the records ahead and tell you what to expect. You are never handed a phone number.
Who runs the clinical side
The group is led by practising surgeons, not by managers. Every senior name below still operates.
Dr. K. Ravi Kumar Reddy
Founder, Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist and Phaco Surgeon. Established MediVision in 1993 and has led its growth to five centres, while continuing high-volume phacoemulsification and premium IOL implantation.
Dr. K. Rupak Kumar Reddy
Consultant Ophthalmologist and Refractive Surgeon. Leads the refractive service across LASIK, SILK and ICL, with a stated preference for matching the procedure to the cornea rather than to the trend.
A 30-strong consultant body
Sub-speciality leads in retina, cornea, glaucoma, oculoplasty, paediatric ophthalmology and squint, rotating across all five centres so the surgeon you meet in a district town is the one who operates at the flagship.
The equipment your diagnosis rests on
A recommendation is only as sound as the measurement behind it. These are the platforms our findings come from.
ELITA SILK Platform
Flapless lenticule extraction for laser vision correction
Alcon UNITY Vision System
Next-generation phacoemulsification and vitrectomy platform
CATALYS Precision Laser
Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery
IOLMaster 700
Swept-source optical biometry for lens power calculation
ARGOS Optical Biometer
Biometry that reads through dense cataracts where older machines fail
OCT & OCT Angiography
Cross-sections of the retina and optic nerve, and blood flow maps without dye
Optos Ultra-Widefield Imaging
Photographs 200 degrees of retina in one capture, periphery included
What NABH accreditation actually means for you
It is not a plaque. It is a set of things an assessor checks, on site, against written evidence.
- Written, auditable clinical protocolsHow a cataract is assessed, how consent is taken, how an emergency is triaged — documented, followed and reviewed rather than left to habit.
- Infection control that is measuredTheatre sterilisation, instrument tracking and post-operative infection rates recorded and audited, not assumed.
- Patient rights spelled outThe right to know your diagnosis, to a second opinion, to an itemised estimate, and to refuse a procedure without losing access to care.
- Records kept properlyYour file, images and operative notes are retained, retrievable and confidential — which matters most the day you need them somewhere else.
- Complaints with a real routeA named grievance process with defined response times, rather than a suggestion box nobody opens.

Questions patients ask us
When was MediVision founded, and by whom?
In 1993, by Dr. K. Ravi Kumar Reddy, who remains the founder and a practising senior consultant ophthalmologist and phaco surgeon.
How many hospitals does MediVision have?
Five. The 50-bed flagship at Masab Tank in Hyderabad, a full-service centre at KPHB in Kukatpally, regional centres at Warangal and Nalgonda, and a community centre at Badvel in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh.
Is MediVision NABH-accredited?
Yes. NABH accreditation covers clinical protocols, infection control, patient rights, consent, record-keeping and grievance handling, and is assessed on site against documented evidence.
How many surgeries has MediVision performed?
More than 1,35,000 across 34+ years, with over 6,25,000 patients examined in that time.
Do the same doctors work at all five centres?
Our consultants rotate across the group, so the specialist you meet in Warangal or Nalgonda is often the same one operating at Masab Tank. Procedures that need the flagship's theatre — vitreoretinal surgery, corneal transplants, orbital reconstruction — are performed there, and we arrange the referral ourselves.
Do you treat only eyes?
Only eyes. Every consultant, theatre, machine and protocol in the group is ophthalmic. It is a narrower hospital than a general one, deliberately.
