About this centre

MediVision Warangal, at Mallikarjuna Laser Eye & Skin Care

Warangal is MediVision's regional centre for north Telangana. Patients from Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Mahabubabad and Bhupalpally have historically travelled to Hyderabad for anything beyond a basic check-up — this centre exists so that most of them no longer have to.

Cataract surgery, LASIK, diabetic retinopathy screening with laser and injections, and glaucoma management all happen here. Cornea and oculoplasty cases are co-managed with our Hyderabad consultants rather than simply handed off.

Why this centre

What Warangal does well

Every MediVision centre follows the same clinical protocols. What differs is what each one is built for.

Open every day of the week

Nine to eight, including Sunday — built for people who travel in from surrounding districts and cannot easily come back a second time.

Diabetic eye care done properly

Screening, retinal imaging, laser photocoagulation and anti-VEGF injections on site. Diabetes is the single biggest cause of preventable vision loss in this region.

Costs explained before you commit

You get the full estimate — lens options, tests, follow-ups — in Telugu or English, in writing, before anything is scheduled.

Co-managed complex care

Cornea and oculoplasty cases are reviewed jointly with Hyderabad consultants, so you get a specialist opinion without an immediate 150 km trip.

Follow-ups planned around your travel

If you are coming from Mahabubabad, we will not ask you to return three times in a fortnight for things that can be combined.

What we treat at this centre

Listed honestly — including what we do not do here, and where we send you instead.

We would rather tell you now than after you have travelled. These are handled at another MediVision hospital — we assess you here, send your records ahead and arrange the appointment.

  • Cornea & Dry EyeCorneal transplants and cross-linking are co-managed with Masab Tank
  • OculoplastyOrbital and complex eyelid surgery is co-managed with Masab Tank
  • SILK Laser Vision CorrectionSILK is available at Masab Tank and KPHB
Do not wait on these

Symptoms worth an appointment this week

Most eye problems are easier, cheaper and more completely fixable when caught early. These are the ones we would rather see sooner.

Diabetes for more than five years, no eye check

Retinopathy develops without symptoms. By the time vision drops, treatment is harder.

Cloudy vision that worsened over months

The typical cataract story. Easily confirmed with a slit-lamp examination.

Persistent headache with eye strain

Sometimes an uncorrected prescription, sometimes raised eye pressure. Worth separating the two.

Black spots or a shadow in your field of vision

Needs a dilated retinal check without delay.

Watering, redness and itching that keeps returning

Usually allergy or dry eye — both very common in this climate and both treatable.

Difficulty reading despite new glasses

If a fresh prescription did not help, the problem is probably not refractive.

On-site testing

Diagnostics available here

A diagnosis is only as good as the measurement behind it. These tests are performed at Warangal — you are not sent elsewhere for the basics.

  • Optical biometry for cataract surgery
  • OCT retinal imaging
  • Fundus photography
  • Automated perimetry
  • Applanation tonometry
  • Auto-refraction and vision testing
  • Slit-lamp examination with imaging
  • Retinal laser delivery system

Your visit

What actually happens when you come in

Budget about 90 minutes for a first visit — longer if your pupils need dilating, which makes driving yourself home unwise.

  1. Registration and vision test

A short registration, then visual acuity and auto-refraction. Bring your current glasses and any previous reports.

  2. Diagnostic work-up

Eye pressure, slit-lamp examination and any imaging your symptoms call for — OCT, fields or biometry.

  3. Consultation with your specialist

You get the findings explained plainly, with the actual images on screen, and a clear answer on what needs doing and when.

  4. Plan, costs and follow-up

A written plan with costs before anything is booked, explained in Telugu or English, plus insurance paperwork if you are using it.

FAQs

Questions about our Warangal centre

Where is the Warangal centre located?

2, 80 Feet Road, Auto Nagar, Kothawada, Warangal 506006 — close to the railway station and the main bus stand.

What are the timings?

Every day, Monday through Sunday, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Is cataract surgery performed in Warangal?

Yes. Phacoemulsification with monofocal, toric and multifocal lens options is performed here, with the same protocols and lens brands used at our Hyderabad centres.

Do you screen for diabetic eye disease?

Yes, and we would encourage it if you have had diabetes for more than five years. Screening includes a dilated retinal examination and OCT imaging where needed. Laser treatment and anti-VEGF injections are both available on site.

I am coming from Mahabubabad — can everything be done in one visit?

Usually, yes. Tell us when you book that you are travelling in, and we will group your tests, consultation and counselling into a single day. Where a procedure is needed, we try to schedule it to minimise repeat trips.

Is LASIK available here?

Yes — LASIK and PRK are performed at Warangal after a full corneal evaluation. SILK, the flapless procedure, is currently available at Masab Tank and KPHB only.

What if I need corneal or oculoplastic surgery?

Those cases are co-managed with our Hyderabad consultants. You will be assessed here first, and only travel to Masab Tank if the surgery genuinely requires it.

Will someone explain things in Telugu?

Yes. Consultation, counselling and cost estimates are all available in Telugu.
